Ladbrokespoker – When you are involved in a hand, in any type of poker game, you should be looking for signs that you might be beaten. The exception of course is when you have the best possible hand no matter what the next card brings, but as players we know that this type of situation is rare.
When we look for dangerous signs in poker, some of the things that spring to mind are, flat calls when you put out a reasonable sized bet. I am always wary of this, partly because I am aggressive in my play and open to being smooth called by a big hand. Another danger sign to look for is a player moving all in preflop when they have a big stack or two behind them and waiting to act. Following on from this, is any strong bet preflop in early position. Any player who understands the game knows that you cannot try and steal pots from early position. In fact, if an opposing player moved all in for a reasonable stack, in first position, with bigger stacks waiting behind them, I wouldn’t call even if I had (A,Q).
Many of the danger signs you will see in poker are more clear than this of course, you should understand when the board cards give possible straights or flushes, and be examining your opponents play to see if they might have these hands. It is always a case of judgement however, as you also know that players will choose to bet out when these cards hit, to see if you made the hand yourself, and also to represent it if you haven’t.
